Properties: white to light yellow crystalline powder, m.p. 140.5 °C, water solubility at 25 °C is 620mg/L; it is strong acid soluble in basic solution, alcohols and ether, insoluble in petroleum; pure (2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid butyl ester is colorless oily liquid; industrial TC is brown liquid, specific weight at 20 °C is 1.21, insoluble in water, easily soluble in many organic solvents; good volatility; decomposed in alkalis.
Application: it is systemic herbicide suitable for the control of broad-leaf weeds with barley, maize, oat, pasture, paddy rice, Indian millet, sugar etc. Can also be used as plant growth regulator.
